Henry Hudson, one of the most famous explorers of all time, was surprisingly unknown. We know a lot about him since he kept a journal on his ship, but besides that we don't even know what he looks like!
Henry Hudson was born in England and was English all of his life, but he sailed for the Dutch East India Company after his first and second failures.
Henry Hudson had three ships. He had the Hopewell, the Half moon, and the Discovery. He sailed west from England hoping to find a shorter route to Asia from Europe. On his first and second journey, he hit ice and had to turn back.
After his first two attempts, he had to turn to the Dutch East India Company and sail for them.
