Storyboard Text

  • why do the leaves change colour? why do they fall?
  • The leaf piles hide our eggs and keep them warm in the colder weather!
  • Do you know why the leaves change colour?
  • The chlorophyll breaks down, the green colordisappears, and the yellow to orange colors become visible and give the leaves part of their fall splendor. At the same time other chemical changes may occur, which form additional colors through the development of red anthocyanin pigments.
  • the little girl meets a butterfly, and asks him her question.
  • Huh?
  • Finally, the girl finds an owl in a tree. She thinks he'll have the answers she wants.
  • As the weather starts to get colder, and the leaves get less light, it becomes harder for them to make food. Instead of making new foods, the leaves start to use what they have already stored up during the summer.
  • the owl gives a very scientific answer.
  • The red, yellow, and gold colours are hidden in the leaves all along, but now the chlorophyll, the green pigment, is starting to fade, and they can finally show through. Once all the food is used up, the stems weaken, and the leaves fall to the ground.
  • The girl does not understand.
  • The owl sighs, and explains, finally, why the leaves change colour.
