The Van Daan family meets the Frank family. The Frank's arive and introductions are made and the Frank's shake hands with the Van Daan's.
Act 2: Scene 1
You should be ashamed of yourself! Talking that way! Think how lucky we are! Think of the thousands dying in the war, every day. Think of the people in concentration camps.
Mr Dussel, a Jewish dentist, has been "called up" by the Nazis-asked to surrender himself and go quietly away to a death camp. Miep's boyfriend tells her this and Mr. Kraler asks Mr. Frank if the group in the attic will take Dussel in.
Act 2: Scene 3
While the residents go back and forth between remorse and thankfulness for their situation, including a heavy decision as to whether they should sing the Hanukah celebration song, a big noise from downstairs occurs. Peter tries to help, but knocks over a chair making a big noise and everyone panics and Anne faints.
Act 2: Scene 5
Mr. Krauler was getting blackmailed by his warehouse worker. Mr. Krauler told him to think about the people dying and the people in the concentration camps.
Mr. Van Daan was stealing food from the storage box. Mrs. Van Daan says, "He needs more food than the rest of us. He's used to more. He's a big man."
