  • Proclamation of 1763
  • Have you heard the land west of the Appalacians are off limits?
  • really. That's so unfair! we helped fight and win the war
  • Quartering Act 1765
  • I feel they are trying to control us instead of protecting us
  • you guys are supposed to be working!
  • I feel the same way
  • Boston Massacre 1770
  • You started it, you should have been ready to face the consequences.
  • you killed five of our people and you call that protecting
  • King George the third gave a formal announcement that the land West of the Appalacian mountains was off limits. But, the colonists felt this was unfair because they helped fight and win the war.
  • Boston Tea Party 1773
  • Dumb Tea act, only allowing us to but tea from England.
  • King George the third sent several thousand soldiers to help protect the colonists and enforce the Proclamation of 1763. The colonists did not believe the soldiers were sent to protect, they believed that they were sent to control.
  • Intolerable Acts 1774
  • 1) No town meetings 2) Boston Legislaters are not allowed to meet 3)Boston port is closed to all buisnesses
  • A large crowd of Boston citizens began arguing with the soldiers who were stationed there. Eventually  shot was fired. Five colonists died that day and the colonists blamed the British soldiers and asked the king to remove all the soldiers.
  • Lexington and Concord 1775
  • First Continental Congress, REJECT!
  • England did not allow colonists to have a decision in the Tea act.  The Tea act forced the colonists to buy tea from England and England only. The colonists who did not approve of this Act raided boats and dumped tea into the harbor.
  • As a punishment over the Boston Tea Party, Boston town meetings were prohibited. Boston Legislaters were not allowed to meet. Boston port was closed all buisnesses. Military was also imposed. This crack down on rights of Massachusetts colonists to govern themselves and do buisnesses was much worse than any taxes imposed on them.
  • the parliament rejected any request made by the first continental congress.  In April, troops left to Boston to get supplies, a shot was fired and stared a war. Since blood had spilled a new meeting, second continental congress will prepare to fight the war.
  • Another request from the First Continental Congress, REJECT!
