In May 1789, the estates general were called together. The third estate wanted the 1st and 2nd one to have taxes but the king said no. The third estate wanted more votes and they said no so, the formed the national assembly.
Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen is adopted
On June 20, 1789, the national assembly met on a tennis court because the king locked them out of the meeting. they made an oath that said, "not to separate, and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established"
France becomes constitutional monarchy
on July 14, 1789, some of the members of the third estate went to the prison Bastille (that was hated by most) and set the prisoners free. This marked the start of the French revolution.
Beheading of King Luis XIV
On August 26, 1789, Marquis de Lafayette wrote the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen. It stated that the government got its power from those it governed not the king.
The constitutional monarchy was formed in 1791 September 3 by the creation of the national assembly. this made king Louis XVImad because of the limitations and he fled to Austria.
In January 1793, King Louis XVI was beheaded on a guillotine. This caused outrage and made other countries declare war on France to prevent this type of revolutions from happing in their countries.
