Robert and Kate had been dating for 5 years. All of a sudden...
Robert was devastated. To make matters worse, he was broke because he had lost his job and was unmotivated to find a new one (which is the very reason Kate broke up with him). He turned to alcohol in an attempt to forget his troubles and loneliness.
When Robert needed money to buy drinks, he borrowed from (and did not pay back) his friend Nathaniel. Nathaniel was fed up with giving his money and was not comfortable with fuelling his friend's alcohol addiction.
You need to get in shape, man! Stop drinking! You need to find a better way to cope with your stress!
After a lot of thinking, Robert realized that he did not bounce back from the break-up and job loss very well. In an effort to be more RESILIENT, he started setting little goals to stop drinking, meditated, and improved his health by working out.
Best of all, Robert repaired his support system of family & friends and in particular, rebuilt his relationship with Nathaniel. He also paid him back for all the money he owed.
This experience helped Robert become more resilient, which improved his self-image. Now, he is prepared to take on any challenge because he is emotionally strong enough to bounce back from failure. He is now following a new career path. PLUS, he met someone new!
