  • Neptune is an outer planet, and the closest to it are Uranus and the dwarf planet Pluto.

  • Neptune is about 20 times the size of the Earth, and the smallest gas giant. It has more than a dozen moons, with Triton its largest.
  • It is made of clouds and gases. Its methane gives a blue color. It has a small rock core. The deeper you go into Neptune, the hotter you get. The atmosphere could get down to -240 degrees or -330 degrees F! That's cold!
  • Fun Fact 1: Triton, Neptune's biggest moon, may be the coldest place in the solar system! Fun Fact 2: Nobody knows who is the real discoverer of Neptune!
