1815-The British used the money sold from the opium to buy chinese luxuries such as porcelain, silk, and tea. Opium started by taking it orally to relieve pain and tension, it used to be in small quantities and then they began smoking it which led to addictions.
1839-The first opium war because china was unable to suppress the opium trade. A drunken British sailor killed a Chinese villager; the main fighting started in late 1820. The second opium war started in the mid- 1850s because the British wanted to keep their power in trade but China did not allow it.
1864-The Taiping rebellion was one of the top most important things in China's history it lasted for 14 years, took estimated 20 million lives, and 17 provinces. This rebellion altered the life of the Qing Dynasty.
1890-Gives exclusive control over a foreign area. It was like a circle of power that nations had and the other people would refrain from interfering inside that circle.
1990-Chinese people known as boxers practiced certains types of boxing that they believed made them invincible. It was created to drive all foreigners from China because they didn’t want the westerners to have a lot of power over China.
