  • We are heavily in debt!
  • Hamilton's Financial Plan
  •  I have an idea!
  • Washington was inaugurated on April 30th, 1789 in New York City. He was very anxious because the country was divided into many issues and many people depended on him. Lastly, when he became president he needed to create and put in place a working government.
  • Whiskey Rebellion
  • When Washington first took office they were left heavily in debt from the American Revolution. This problem got even worse because most of the people that origanally bought the bonds had sold them for less then there actual worth.
  • Problems in NorthWest Territory
  • Alexander Hamilton came up with a plan to fix this financial crisis that the US was in. The plan had three parts to it and the first part was that the federal government would take on and pay all the state debt, the second part was that they would create a national bank, and lastly the third part of this plan was to set high tariffs on imported goods.
  • French Revolution
  • We are at war people!!!
  • Congress imposed a tax on all whiskey that was made and sold in the county of Pennsylvania. Many farmers were made about this tax that was put on Whiskey and because they were so angry about it they burnt down the home of a tax collector. This act was the forst to test the will of the government and Washington.
  • Those farmers will pay for this
  • British soldiers were still occupying forts that they promised to leave, and they were also supplying Native Americans with weapoons to fight American settlers with. The U.S. tried to make the Native Americans sell their lands to the U.S. government but they refused to do so, and the Native Americans started to attack settlements.
  • The French Revolution began in April of 1789, and it was very different from the American Revolution because it was not about fighting for independence. The main causes of the revolution were the financial crisis that was caused by buying so much weapons and soldiers, the Economic Depression which was where Frances incomes were decreasing, and lastly Enlightment ideas promoted the use of scientific reasoning.
