When the party is over, her and her husband find a carriage. When they get into the rugedy carriage she realizes that she lost the necklace. Mme. Loisel and her husband look all night for the necklace but just can't find it.

While the week went by they searched all over the town looking for a replica of the necklace. When they find one it cost 36,000 frances. They borrow money from friends. They also have to sell there house and move into an attic.
They give the replica back to her friend. Although its going to take them along time to pay everyone back. ten years go buy and the Loisels finally pays everyone back, but they are poor. Mme. Loisel runs into her friend, and she tells her that they original necklace was only worth 500 frances.
