Okay everyone! We'll be switching to the Fox & Squirrels game in 1 minute!
But I don't want to switch!
Tracy is having lots of fun with the other kids playing the Concentration game.
Tracy, what happened there? Why are you upset?
I am really upset that we have to switch games. I don't like switching games and I was having fun playing that game!
The Recess Guardian makes an announcement.
I can see, that can be frustrating. While the bad news is that we are going to have to stop playing Concentration and switch games, the good news is that we have time to prepare for another fun game. Fox & Squirrels is really fun, I promise!
Tracy becomes frustrated that they are switching games. She starts to fidget and pull on her dress. When the ball is tossed to her again, she throws it across the classroom and storms out.
For this next game Fox & Squirrels....
The Recess Guardian follows Tracy to talk to her and figure out what's wrong.
Some kids may get angry when they have to do a new activity. You may see them fidgeting, looking nervous or trying to leave. Some things you can do to help are telling the kids what games will be played that day so they can follow along with the routine, using the good news/bad news strategy to move onto the next game and giving them a break.
Alright.. Let's try this new game.
Tracy joins the other kids as they listen to the Recess Guardian explain the Fox & Squirrels game.
