Mr. Swartwood. I think that we should revise the tardy policy. If we do it'll allow the students to be more productive in class and keep up with their assignments.
Please explain further...
Well. Students get sent to IC with nothing to do but finish assignments that they might be missing along with any work that the teacher may be willing to give them.
This keeps the students from learning what is being taught in their classes. This can cause them to fall behind and have to play catch up. A result of falling behind can cause their grades to drop.
I think that we should get rid of Half-Day and All-Day IC as a tardy disciplinary action. But keep Lunch and Afterschool Detention along with Friday and Saturday School.
If we were to do this students would be able to remain in class, learn the things that are currently being taught, and ask any questions they might have.
It will allow our students to reap the consequences of their actions but not impose on their education.
Thank you for telling me this Kiana. I will take into consideration all the things you told me and will speak with the school board.
