Our climate is hot, dry and we have poor soil so we struggle to develop and grow natural resources. Plus, we're a landlocked country.
The shipping routes aren't that great so it's a lot harder for goods to get exported.
The Europeans travelled to Africa, S. America and Asia and took their natural resources; gold, ivory, tobacco, slaves etc. They then set up colonies to benefit in trade and sold the native's raw materials and slaves.
There is a development gap in our country because of the events in history. That started when the industrial revolution began in Britain in 1750.
In our country there is conflict which causes an unstable government and loss of money and life. There is also corruption of money which also adds to the factors of the development gap.
Us young people don't have good educations, so we don't get the chance to learn. And diseases such as malaria and TB are common so it limits the workforce. We therefore only think of basics.
