Kid, some people need to clean their pipes before they play the game.
That boy shoots just like Junior used to!!!
- So Junior how do you feel before this big game? - Weird.
By the coach telling Junior that he used to be a "yuker" too, I think this shows Junior that he isn't week. Puking is just Juniors' way of dealing with nervous situations.
I can't do it coach.
We can 't beat these guys with our talent. We just aren't good enough. But I think we have the bigger heart. Junior I want you to guard Rowdy.
Junior realizes that no one will ever compare him to a white basketball player at Reardan because he is still an "outsider", but that maybe one day someone may compare another player to him.
A reporter shows up to the game and asks Junior questions about how he feels about this game. At first Junior thanks it's funny and decides to be a jerk and answer "weird" on camera to all of his questions. After, Junior feels bad about what he said and realizes this game is important so he tells the camera how big this game is for him.
Some of Wellpinit's players didn't eat breakfast today. Some of their fathers are in prison. Most of their parents are alcoholics. Rowdy's date will beat him for losing.
Coach knows that Wellpinit's team is undefeated and very talented, but he knows that Reardan's team is good. Coach knows that Junior takes this game very personal and he knows that if he takes his passion into guarding Rowdy, they may have a shot at winning.
At the beginning of the game Rowdy runs down the court and goes to dunk but Junior jumps higher than Rowdy and grabs the ball, runs down the court, and swishes a three pointer. Rowdy is so surprised, and Junior said the game was over. Reardan beat Wellpinit by over 40 points.
After winning, Junior realizes just how lucky lots of students at Reardan are. Most students at Wellpinit have very unfortunate lives. Junior suddenly feels guilty for wanting to win the game so bad.
