  • Next, a scientist by the name of Hoyle published an important paper in 1945 on the structure of stars. He didn't agree that the big bang was real and that nothing in our universe was moving.
  • He suggested that the universe had a constant mass but the radius was getting bigger. So he suggested the Big Bang Theory.
  • To begin with Wilson didn't agree with the Big Bang Theory, because he had been trained in steady state theory.
  • Then in 1960 two astronomers by the name of Penzias and Wilson invented the Holmdel antenna. WHen they began to use it they found there was a background noise. They found that the Big Bang Theory started from one specific point.
  • Yes miss, I think we all understand. Please continue.
  • Is everyone understanding this, so far?
  • The final scientist is Edward Hubble. I assume most of you have heard of the Hubble Telescope?
  • Great ok let's continue. This is alot of information to learn.
  • The Hubble telescope was launched on the 25th April 1990. On April 25th it was deployed, and the first image was received on the 20th of May 1990.
  • Edward Hubble is famous for discovering the cosmos. He also noticed that the fuzzy patches in the sky are actually other galaxies.
  • Well students that is the end of how the big bang theory came to be and the different scientists that discovered different things.
  • He measured the amount of shift of specific spectral lines relative to those produced by reference arc lamps in the spectrograph.
