Jip was also not prepared he had no supplies or basic necessities to keep him and Put alive. So then after they went to the Stevenson's Jip needed to go find his teacher since she would know what to do. Yet late at night he went off to go find Lucy. Then later at night him and Put went to see the teacher.
The resolution is when Jip goes to North. The reason that Put didn't go was because he got shot by the slave catchers. Then the catcher had to take Jip. Then the teacher said that he had to prove that Jip was his property. After all of this the teacher told him to go North since that was what Put would have wanted. So Jip went to the North and was fighting to free slaves. Since they deserved a second chance like Jip.
