This standard establishes the importance of involving families of students in the education of their students. Teachers and families are encouraged to collaborate to not only provide new and exciting forms of education, but to also provide support to each other. Clear expectations of students is one way to encourage success within the classroom.
Parent Teacher Conferences Today!
Inviting parents to speak about their families or occupation is a great way to get them involved in their child's education. It also helps to broaden the education of all students within the class. Providing examples from different cultures is a great way to ensure all students feel welcome and represented within the classroom. Another way this standard is used in the classroom is through Parent Teacher Conferences. Using this time to educate parents on classroom goals and expectations can create a great Teacher-Parent relationship that can be beneficial to students.

Welcome to 2nd Grade!
Why is this standard important? To start, it helps to encourage a supportive Teacher-Parent relationship. This helps students feel supported in their education both in the classroom and at home. Also, this standard helps to strive towards a classroom that represents all students, regardless of culture or family dynamic. Students who feel supported in their education have a higher chance at success.
I think it is important to strive towards using this standard in the classroom, because it helps to create a positive classroom environment with teachers, students and families. To do this, I plan on implementing several different practices within my future classroom. I will work to create a positive environment, build trust with families, encourage family involvement, and ask questions to learn more about my students.
Different ways that this can be achieved is through Parent-Teacher Conferences, inviting parents to get involved in the classroom and create a positive classroom environment that makes the parents feel valuable in their child's education.
