  • Set in the Caribbean Sea, in the 1920's, on Ship-Trap Island. Two hunters, Whitney and Rainsford, are sailing to go hunt jaguars. They were sailing past Ship-Trap island and Rainsford heard a gun shot. He kept on hearing it which made him look off boat making him fall. He couldn't get back to the boat and he decided to swim to the island. Once he was on the island he met General Zaroff. Zaroff had agame he played where he hunted people. Rainsford was going to be hunted. 
  • Climax
  • Zaroff and Rainsford fight. Rainsford realizes that there is a difference between the hunter and the hunted.
  • Falling Action
  • Rainsford and Zaroff meet once Rainsford gets to the island. Rainsford swims there because he fell off his boat and couldn't get back on it. He heard gunshots which was why he was looking over the boats edge. 
  • Resolution
  • After Zaroff's and Rainsford's conversation, Rainsford soon realized that Zaroff wanted to hunt him. 
  • Before every hunt Zaroff gives the hunted a head start. Rainsford at first hid in a tree, but then jumped off of a cliff in hopes for survival. Rainsford swam back to where Zaroff was and while he was hunting, Rainsford slept in Zaroff's bed. 
  • Zaroff comes back shocked to find that Rainsford is still alive. Rainsford tells Zaroff that he is the "beast at bay." Meaning that Zaroff is no longer the hunter in his game he is the hunted.
