  • 1 st Nike sweatshop in Vietnam
  • Vietnam became Nike largest foreign employed country.
  • Vietnam Goverment attacking Nike
  • The first Nike factory in Vietnam was in 1995, but it is one of the poorest countries in the    world. The people who worked in Vietnam always worked hard though and didn't get paid much.
  • Nike's bad treatment to workers
  • Ten factories employing 40,000 people. In 2015, Nike employed 300,000 people. But Nike made mistakes in the late 1990's.........
  • Why Nike chose to make investments in Vietnam
  • The Vietnamese goverment attacked Nike for its practices. Nike found itself in  the newspaper every day. Some stories were later found to be false, but by then the  stories had reached overseas. The harm was done. Nike told the Vietnamese government that it attacks continued, it would leave. The criticsm stopped
  • Nike have made small improvements to the Vietnamese workers
  • Many pressure groups have tried to persuade Nike to improve workers' conditions. Many consumer groups want to see fair treatment for workers. Nike now argues they have improved factory conditions but it might not be true.
  • Nike chose to make an investment in Vietnam because in Vietnam there were no trade unions,or strikes for higher pay, so wages were low. The communist  government was also keen to develop exports. Vietnamese government probably agreed to this because lots of the people in their country didn't have jobs.
  • Since 1995 the factories in Vietnam have had a decent change to the conditions and the workers are a little happier than they were 15-20 years ago
