At the beginning of the story the girls are caught dancing in the woods by Reverend Parris. Reverend accuses the girls of practicing witchcraft. The girls accuse Tituba of tricking them into doing it. Little does he know his niece is the "leader" of these girls and asked Tituba to do it. Abigail later smashes a chicken against a log and drinks the blood.

*After the girls were found Reverend Parris noticed that one of the girls was not opening her eyes, as if she were cursed. Betty,, the Reverend's daughter will not open her eyes. Abigail accuses Tituba of doing it to her. Betty wasn't the only one in this condition there were many other girls in town with the same problem. Rumor has spread throughout the town at this point.

Trials were held and many townspeople died. The girls kept fooling around and playing a game because they didn't want to speak the truth. Later on in the story, the girls manipulate Mary Warren into planting a poppet at John Proctor's home. Mary was testifying against the girls and Abigail wanted to stop her before she exposed the girls. Also wanted to take out the competition. Elizabeth Proctor was accused of witchcraft because of the poppet and Reverend Hale tried to stop it but couldn't..
Elizabeth is pregnant and is safe from hanging in front of the town of Salem. John had gotten a chance to talk to her. He said he would confess to possessing witchcraft. After given the document to sign he tears it up and screams into the open field about keeping his name since he has lost everything but that.
Townspeople are fed up with these Witch Trials. They are losing loved ones and others. Proctor is hanged and Abigail leaves the town of Salem to find away to get far away from the Town. 20 people died over the course of the Salem Witch Trials.
