  • But in Japan, people believed in Pan-Asianism. They thought growing their empire was a good thing and that it would free Asian territories from Western imperialism.
  • Korea became a Japanese colony in 1910. Japan's Emperor Meiji died in 1912. His first son, Yoshihito, rose to power. With that, a new era had begun and they called it the Taisho era.
