  • the story of the golden fleece who grew tired of his queen. he replaced the middle aged woman, whom was the mother of his two children, with a beautiful but cold princess.
  • call the royal executioner!
  • the princess wanted her own children to rule, so she had to come up with a way to get rid of the king's. blaming the crops failure on the children, she convinced the king to execute the kids.
  • luckily, a golden ram to the kids rescue. but as the ram began to fly away, Helle, the daughter of the king, had fallen off the back. leaving his son, phrixus, to have to sacrifice the ram and obtain the golden fleece.
  • then along came Jason. a young prince that had been raised in a mountainside and happened relative of phrixus. but his throne had been seized by his older cousin. fortunately, Chiron, his half horse mentor, had been training him to challenge the tyrant. which he did when he came of age. His cousin, pelias, agreed to let him have the throne, but Jason had to obtain the golden fleece before he did so.
  • Jason did as Pelias requested and went on to seek the golden fleece.  He stumbled upon a woman and a musician to travel along with him, as well as heracles. Through the aid of Iris, they obtained a boat and went sailing until they arrived at Colchis. Aeetes, was willing to hand over the fleece if Jason accomplished a few impossible tasks.
  • These tasks were to yoke a pair of brazen-footed, fire-breathing bulls, the gift of hephaetus to Aeetes, and with them plow a large field and sow it with dragon's teeth, from which would spring up armed men, whom Jason would have to kill. He accomplished these tasks with the help of Medea, the daughter of Aeetes. She gave Jason a magical ointment which made him ivincable for a day, and made him capable of defeating and finally obtain the golden fleece.
