  •  We will go over the state constitution in a moment.
  • We, the people of the State of Florida, being grateful to Almighty God for our constitutional liberty, in order to secure its benefits, perfect our government, insure domestic tranquility, maintain public order, and guarantee equal civil and political rights to all, do ordain and establish this constitution.
  • NOVEMBER 15TH, 1777
  • We have created The Articles Of Confederation, which will be the constitution of the U.S.
  • • Created a loose union of autonomous states. • Congress had limited central power. • One vote for each state regardless of size. • No power to regulate trade • No executive branch to enforce the law • No national court system • Unanimous consent • 9/13 majority to pass laws
  • The Northwest Ordinance, adopted July 13, 1787, by the Confederation Congress, chartered a government forthe Northwest Territory, provided a method for admitting new states to the Union from the territory, and listed a bill of rights guaranteed in the territory. The Land Ordinance of 1785 was adopted by the United States Congress of the Confederation on May 20, 1785. It set up a standardized system whereby settlers could purchase title to farmland in the undeveloped west. ... The 1785 ordinance laid the foundations of land policy until passage of the Homestead Act in 1862.
  • Shays' Rebellion was an armed uprising in Massachusetts, mostly in and around Springfield during 1786 and 1787. American Revolutionary War veteran Daniel Shays led four thousand rebels in a protest against perceived economic and civil rights injustices.
  • Rebellion crushed, and problems of Federal authority linked to the Articles of Confederation spur U.S. Constitutional Convention
