Walter Fleming work on 1882 "Zellsubstanz, kern and Zelltheilang" is considered a seminal work of modern cell biology.
He confirmed Mendelian laws of inheritance and the hypothesis that genes are located on chromosome by extensively breeding the common fruit fly.
Me and my colleagues published the Mechanism of Mendelian Hereditary in 1915 with all of there findings. In 1933 I received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
We along with Maurice Wilkins solved the structure of DNA. Our findings where published in Nature in April 195, later shared a Nobel prize for Medicine.
