  •  As part of the Compromise of 1850, the Fugitive Slave Act was amended and the slave trade in Washington, D.C., was abolished.
  • Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854
  • Lets vote on it!
  • Should we be a free state or a slave state.
  • The fugitive slave law made African Americans in the North states not free anymore so to be 100% safe they had to go to Canada.
  • Dred Scott decisions of 1857
  • You do not have rights to sue!!!
  • Uncle Toms Cabin the book made people in the north realize what Slavery was really like. Which later than angered the North.
  • Lincoln Douglas debates
  • The Kansas-Nebraska Act was passed by the U.S. Congress on May 30, 1854. It allowed people in the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide for themselves whether or not to allow slavery within their borders. 
  • The court said Dread Scott was not a citizen in America so he could not sue his Plantation Owner for taking him into a free state.
