Jefferson Davis was born on June 3, 1803 in Kentucky. Jefferson became the president of the Confederate states during the Civil War. He fought in the Battles of Monterrey and Buena Vista which occurred in 1846 and 1847. He was victorious in the Battle of Monterrey. He also was a man to argue and not that good of a president. Later on, he died on December 6, 1889 in New Orleans.
Ulysses S. Grant
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in Kentucky. He was elected as the 16th president of the U.S in 1860. His election was one of the major events that leas to the Civil War. Lincoln, in the war, decided to fight instead of letting the Southern states withdraw. Though Lincoln was strictly against slavery, this decision was not based towards his opinion. He was later assassinated on April 14, 1865.

Robert E. Lee was born on January 19, 1807, in Virginia. He was the Confederate army's general during the Civil war. He fought and led his men to victory in many battles such as the Battle of Antietam in 1862. As time passed he later died on October 12, 1870, in Virginia.

Ulysses S. Grant was born on April 27, 1822, in Ohio. Grant was the leader of the Union armies during the Civill War. He also served as the 18th president of the U.S in 1867-1877. Grant was also a republican. Not too long after his presidential term, he died on July 23, 1885, in New York.
William Carney was born as a slave on February 29, 1840, in Virginia. In the Civil War, he was an African American soldier. During the Battle of Fort Wagner in 1863, he saved a colored army unit which he was later given the Medal of Honor in 1900 for his bravery. He later died on December 8, 1908, in the Boston City Hospital.
Phillip Bazaar's birth is unknown but he was born in Chile. He was a Navy seaman who fought in the Battle of Fort Fisher during the Civil War in which he made himself recognizable as a leader. He too, was awarded the Medal of Honer for his courage in battle. He died on December 28, 1923.
