I play on the basketball team at Moreland East. Since my mother passed away I have been struggling from internal conflict, everyday I hope that I can have food to eat or wonder if someone is going to find out.
Now I am living by myself in poor side of town. Everyday for me to eat I will steal bread and other foods from stores. Trying not to get caught.
My name is Jayson, I am 12 years of age. My mom died couple months back and her boyfriend gave me some money for rent that would last at most 3 months.
I needed new shoes for basketball, my old black shoes are getting worn down. The Carolina Blue Devil shoes I wanted were at the window.
I didn't have enough money to buy the shoes and there was 1 chance of me getting it and that was stealing them.
When I walked in the store I asked if they had the shoes in my size and another pair of cheap shoes to not rise suspicion
Hey, kid you didn't pay for those shoes. Aren't you that kid who plays basketball at Moreland East?
I turned th cover from the store thinking I was going to get away with the shoes. Suddenly I herd someone voice behind me. It was the clerk!
I thought about what was going to happen to me now, I have finally got caught , am I going to live in a foster home. Also the Clerk new because I played against his son in basketball.
I was sitting with a lady who works at the foster home department. She was nice, but she was asking me many question about what i was doing after my mom died.
Now your going to live with a new family at a new house. So you don't need to worry about living by yourself.
She brought me to my new house that I was going to live in, I didn't want to live here. This was the rich side of town. I have to go to a brand new school and make friends.
At least I had a chance to grab all my stuff from my house before I came. I would've never ended up here if I didn't steal those shoes.
My new "parents" were standing right in front of me and they were black. They tried welcoming me like there were met parents but they weren't. They we both really tall and they had son called Isaih who pl;eyed basketball but he wasn't living in the house anymore. They also had a basketball in there back yard with lights.
Do I have to I'm fine living on my own. I told her, after I started to cry.
