Companies like Facebook and Google use the data they collect to place ads based of what they think each individual might like
Google, with its range of products is able to gather even more user information on people—everything from your entire search history on the web and where you live to the destination of your last vacation.
Why do companies do this?
It enables sites like Facebook and Snapchat to be free to use, since they’re able to make money from ads. Plus, advertisers argue, wouldn’t you prefer to see an ad for something you’re interested in rather than for a totally random product?
What can we do to prevent how much they know?
1) Stop taking easy way by logging in through Facebook 2) Learn your privacy settings
What do you think?
I think that companies need to be restricted on how much information they can take. Personally an ad or two based off what I have searched doesn’t bother me but I don’t want companies knowing my email, birthday, or private messages.
