Storyboard Text

  • In this scene Walter tries to tell Ruth about his hopes and dreams but Ruth was ignoring him. It was important because it shows that nobody in the family agreed with Walter.
  • In Act 1 scene 2 the main part is when the check comes. This check is a fresh start for the Youngers and they desperately needed it.
  • "Yes'm ... ten thousand dollars. Gaalee, Grandmama, you rich"(69).
  • In Act 2 scene 1 Walter comes home drunk and sees Benetha dancing to Neigerian music and joins in. Also George comes and when Walter tries to talk business with him he gets turned down.
  • "You're all wacked up with bitterness,man"(85).
  • In this scene mama shows how much she trusts Walter by giving him the remaining $6,500. This is important because mama is finally allowing Walter to do what he wants to do.
  • "I ain't ever stop trusting you. Like I ain't ever stop loving you"(107).
  • In this scene Bobo tells Walter that Willy Harris stole their money and ran away. Because of this the family gave up on their dreams.
  • " That was all the extra money I had in the world... Man, Willy is gone" (128).
  • " I am afraid you don't understand. My son said we was going to move and there ain't nothing left for me to say"(148).
  • A the end of the story the Youngers move out. The story ends with mama standing alone in there all packed up house with her plant ready for there new life.
