On their journey back to Ithaca once again they came across lots of monsters. First off, Sirens. They can lure any man to their death just by singing with their beautiful voices. The men put beeswax in their ears to protect themselves from hearing the Sirens. The 2 other sea monsters were called Scylla and Charybdis.
After getting passed all those monsters they ended up at Thrinacia. They spent the night there only to awaken to a storm. The storm lasted 30 days, and they eventually ran out of food. They were given clear instructions not to eat the cows on the land. While Odysseus was asleep the crew did just that. Helios was very angry and told Zeus to punish them.
The lighting storm that Zeus created killed everyone except Odysseus. After all of that Odysseus ended up floating to the shore of Ogygia. Calypso rescued him, and ended up having him stay there for 7 years.
After 7 years with Calypso, Odysseus decides to go home to Ithaca. The phaeacians bring back Odysseus to Ithaca. He then stays with the Eumaios. Odysseus soon meets his son, Telemachus. They then disguise Odysseus as a beggar so that no one knows who he his. After Odysseus is disguised they go to the palace.
When they get to the palace, Odysseus' wife has a bow competition that she knows only her husband, Odysseus, can do. Odysseus enters the competition even though none of the suitors want him to because he's a filthy beggar. No one can actually do the task. Until Odysseus' turn is up. Everyone watches as he strings the bow, and shoots it.
He reveals himself as Odysseus, and with Athena's help, kills all of the suitors leaving a huge battle zone in the hall. Odysseus goes to Penelope to reveal himself to her. She finally believes him, and Odysseus takes his throne.
