  • 1840- Two abolitionists, Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, met in London at the 1849 World Anti-Slavery Convention.
  • July 19th, 1848 - Seneca Falls
  • 1848- At Stanton's home near Seneca Falls, the two women, along with others, sent out a call for a women's conference to be held at Seneca Falls.
  • 2 weeks after in Rochester NY
  • July 19th, 1848- In Seneca Falls, NY, the first women's rights convention was held, with almost 200 women present.
  • July 19th, 1848- At this convention, women got The "Declaration of Sentiments". Which is a historic document that gives women their legal rights and equal social status.
  • 2 weeks later- There was another meeting held in Rochester NY, which enforced having the convention annually.
