Storyboard Text

  • Hero
  • "Biff Loman is lost. In the greatest country in the world a young man with such—personal attractiveness, gets lost. And such a hard worker. There’s one thing about Biff—he’s not lazy."
  • Hamartia
  •  "If he doesn’t buckle down, he’ll flunk math!"
  •  "He’s right, Willy, you’ve gotta—"
  • "There’s nothing the matter with him! You want him to be a worm like Bernard? He’s got spirit, personality…"
  • Peripeteia
  • "You—you gave her Mama’s stockings!"
  • "She’s nothing to me, Biff. I was lonely, I was terribly lonely."
  • He's always talking about how Biff has good looks, good at football, and not a lazy person like Happy. Willy is always comparing them together.
  • Anagnorisis
  • "You can't eat the orange and throw the peel away - a man is not a piece of fruit."
  • Bernard tells his father Willy that Biff needs to pass math, but instead of him agreeing he gets mad and acts like nothing is wrong if Biff fails.
  • Nemesis
  • "After all the highways, and the trains, and the appointments, and the years, you end up worth more dead than alive.
  • Biff was going to tell his father how he failed his math class, but instead he sees him with another women in a hotel. He's shocked and mad at his fathers betrayal.
  • Catharsis
  • "I don't say he's a great man. Willie Loman never made a lot of money. His name was never in the paper. He's not the finest character that ever lived. But he's a human being, and a terrible thing is happening to him. So attention must be paid. He's not to be allowed to fall in his grave like an old dog. Attention, attention must finally be paid to such a person."
  • Willy now wants his employees or people to take care of him. Although there is no one there for him.
  • Willy realizes after working and being unhappy he got nothing out of it after all.
  • Linda never wants to admit or make it seem like Willy ever did anything wrong. It's almost like she protected him.
