Storyboard Text

  • Beginning of the Great Depression
  • Civilian Conservation Corps
  • The CCC helps young men provide for their family.
  • Today
  • Millions of people lost their jobs and unemployment rates soared up to 25% as companies couldn’t afford to pay wages. Even young and able-bodied men were unable to find work and resorted to criminal habits to survive.
  • Once Roosevelt took office, he implemented the New Deal, which included the CCC. This program employed over 3 million young men to restore public spaces, such as parks. The program lasted for 9 years.
  • We still see the long-lasting effects of the CCC and their public works. They helped build new trails and remodel over 800 parks, many of which are still open to the public today.
