Thabo, a university lecturer, is often frustrated by students who complain that they are receiving bad marks. He often finds they are typically students who do not attend his lectures. However, he finds it difficult to track their lecture attendance on paper registers to hold them accountable for their poor performance.
LOA Granted LOA Granted
Sarah, a colleague of Thabo, notices his frustration and anger in the department and wonders if she could be of any assistance.
Sarah introduces Thabo to RUAttending, an online attendance monitoring system that tracks and displays individual student attendance.
Lecture 5: UX
RUAttending links to bio-metric fingerprint scanners at lecture venues and allows lecturers to track their class attendance or display individual student attendance. The system records attendance, absences, late arrivals and LOAs granted. Records are displayed in simplistic forms with the option to access full details.
Thabo uses the system to hold students accountable for their poor attendance and in turn reduces the stress and frustration he encounters.
Thabo is finally able to relax and be happy. He is relieved that he can carry out his lectures without concern for attendance and poor performance of students.
