Timmy the toddler is having trouble associating certain concepts around their main prototypes in his drawing
Actually Timmy, there are these things called concepts where we put together certain objects, ideas, or events to make the world around us a lot more simple
Then, with these concepts there are prototypes, which are seen as the best example of the concept given.
So, with the concept yellow, many would think of the sun!
But, your creativity allows more unique and valuable ideas to come into the world, proving you have a more divergent way of thinking rather than convergent
Divergent Thinking= thinking in ways where there is more than one possible solution Convergent Thinking= narrowing down solutions to the "best" one
We interrupt the daily programming with Mr. Sternberg and his 5 components of creativity
1. Expertise- the more ideas we have to work with, the more chances we have to combine them in novel (unique) ways 2. Imaginative thinking skills- see things in new ways and patterns to make connections 3. Venturesome personality- tolerating risks and obstacles to seek new experiences 4. Intrinsic motivation- driven by interest and satisfaction 5. Creative environment- sparks/supports/refines creative ideas
