Boarding the Ship
Destroying the Tea
Leaving the Ship
The Sons of Liberty snuck onto the ship. They were armed with an assortment of axes. They were disguised as Mohawk Indians. They boarded three ships carrying cargoes of British East India tea.
In the span of three hours, 340 chests of tea were smashed and dumped into the Boston Harbor. Over 92,000 pounds of tea were dumped and destroyed. They were proud of themselves for destroying the tea and throwing it overboard. They threw the tea overboard because they were mad about the taxes on the tea.
The Sons of Liberty had to clean up the ships and put back the items they moved. People were watching them to make sure they didn't steal any tea or damage the tea. Also, they cleaned up the ship because they were not going to be disrespectful to the owner of the ships. This act led to the American Revolution.
