  • While eating the apple she has bolus, which is a mouthful of food
  • Digestion begins in your mouth when you eat something such as this apple
  • Mechanical action occurs as my teeth chew food and hydrolysis begins
  • The food travels down my esophagus and then my cardiac shpincter allows it to enter my stomach
  • The muscles in my stomach knead the food creating chime, which in turn causes the release of gastrin
  • the chmye then moves into your small intestine andthe gall bladder triggers the release of cholecystokinin, and then bile is released
  • Pancreatic juices such as pancreatic amylase, pancreatic lipase, and pancreatic proteases are secreted in the small intestine to aid digestion.The final processes of digestion are now occurring in my large intestine
  • The digested food now enters my ascending colon, then moves through my sigmoid colon, rectum, and my final anal canal
