  • I am Jefferson Davis and I am president of the confederacy.
  • Where: The confederacy left there capital Montgomery, Alabama to Richmond,Virginia on May 21.
  • When: Richmond, Virginia at first thrived as the capital of the confederacy. They starved, then burned when at last Robert E. Lees forces were forced to retreat, leaving them defenseless. This happened in 1861-1865.
  • Why: Virginia the place where Jefferson was at was the target for the union army.
  • For the
  • How: Since the union capital -Washington D.C and the confederates capital -Richmond were located a mere 100 miles apart, much of the fighting raged between these two.
  • Army!
  • General Lee abandoned his capital Washington, joined the confederate. Later on abandoned the confederacy too.

  • Due to the confederacy and the union living close to each other, a lot of the fighting raged between them.

  • Gordon wanted to leave Richmond and Peters-burg, retreat south to join Gen, Joseph E. Johnstons army to combine forces to defeat the union.
