The Griffin flies into the town and needs to meet any person from there to help him see his stone image. He has his first encounter with the Minor Canon, and the townspeople stand behind, frightened of the new creature who has arrived in their town.
After days of waiting to see if the Griffin would ever leave town, they got no results; therefore they took action. The Minor Canon decided to leave town, into the Dreadful Wilds in hope that the Griffin would follow him and be out of the town for good. But, the Griffin did not do so.
Since the Griffin has taken over most of the Minor Canon's daily things, he was visiting a man at the hospital, and the man told him all the plans of the townspeople. Sending the Minor Canon away so that the Griffin would leave and go looking for him, and the Griffin was furious.
The Griffin takes off, out of the town with his stone image and heads towards the Dreadful Wilds to look for the Minor Canon. He sets his image on the mountain side and saw he Minor Canon sitting out there. He decided to lay there for the night and bring the Minor Canon back home the next day because he realized how much the townspeople need him.
The Minor Canon returns to the town and the people are very excited about his return. He goes back to his regular jobs, but also takes over many others because many people of the church left after the Griffin wouldn't. As for the Griffin, his stone image still lies upon the mountain top and will remain there forever.
