Storyboard Text

  • The Weighing of the Heart by: Kat Sheldon
  • In Egyptian mythology when you die you journey to the afterlife. To do this you must have a pure heart.
  • You began you journey walking through the "Hall of Maat," or the hall of the dead.
  • They would weigh the heart because the ancient Egyptians thought it to be the center of your whole being.
  • Next Ammut would weigh your heart. Thoth would then record the results.
  • If the heart was lighter than a feather you would travel to your afterlife. If it was heavier Ammut would eat you and your soul alive.
  • This myth teaches us that if you are a kind and benevolent person you will journey to a peaceful after life, but if you are the opposite you will be eaten.
  • THE END
