  • Per Sulla: The Cursus Honorum is reinstated. All emperors must be at least 42 years old. All sons must stay in the same profession as their father
  • Julius Caesar

  • Caesar vs. Pompey
  • Sulla did much work in politics. He ended reinstated the cursus honorum, which states that you must be over 42 years old to rule Rome. Sulla also made a rule that sons must keep the same job that their father had. After doing this and becoming one of the most powerful men, Sulla steps down.
  • The End of Julius Caesar
  • Emperor Julius Caesar did not get along with a man known as Pompey. To settle their dispute and seal the 1st Triumvirate, Caesar's daughter is married to Pompey. 
  • The 2nd Triumvirate
  • Julia Caesar dies in childbirth. This ends the settlement that Caesar and Pompey had after the wedding. The two men then fight for power. 
  • The End of the 2nd triumvirate
  • While he was in power, Julius Caesar reinstated the tax system and the wealthy were upset about this, A group of senators/ conspirators killed Caesar to restore the Roman republic. In Caesar's will, his money is given to the roman people and he gives his name to his adopted nephew, Octavian.
  • The will of Julius Caesar: All my money goes to the Roman people. I would like to bestow my name upon Octavian
  • Octavian was given the name of Caesar. Julius' best friend, Mark Antony is upset that he was not given the name. Octavian marries his sister to Antony to seal the 2nd Triumvirate.  Octavian later changes his name to Augustus

  • Mark Antony
  • Even though the 2nd Triumvirate was sealed and Augustus and Antony should have been at peace, that was not the case. Augustus has a fake version of Antony's will read. This will gives Antony's money to the children he previously had with Cleopatra, instead of his with Augustus' sister. The contents cause the two men to go to war where Antony and Cleopatra run away and commit suicide.
