We can still negotiate!
WE MUST ROW OUR HARDEST AND FIGHT THEM UNTIL THEY WILL NEVER COME BACK!
We must use our naval skills to our advantage against Persia. We will surround them, for we have the smaller army.
What is the point of traveling by sea. Our only reason of life is to fight for what is ours.
While the Athens are gathering nonsense from other places, we will be fighting.
They are coming for us!
They must be off to another battle
Oh No! A Spartan Warship!
Athenians were encouraged to travel by sea to gather knowledge and trade. Athens also had a strong water military. They used their naval skills to defeat Persia in the Battle of Salamis.
Spartans thought if they would trade, someone will bring something dangerous. The only reason they would go into the sea was to battle. They did not care about getting knowledge. They could not travel by land because they were surrounded by mountains.
Although Sparta and Athens rarely crossed in battle, they did go against each other in the Peloponnesian War. The first battle was the battle of Tanagra, in which the Spartan army won. The Spartans won the war.
