  • Hamilton- strong central government (manufacturing, business)
  • These items shown is what Hamilton supported.
  • Jefferson- Favored Farming
  • We should have more farmers!
  • Since the government felt like the South should help pay, they made a compromise. The compromise was the capital would be more south. They moved it to Philadelphia for ten years, since Washington Dc. was full of swamps.
  • National Bank
  • A bank won't work like that we will need a different way.
  • Hamilton wanted more power to Central Government. He also believed that businesses and manufacturing was better than farming.
  • Hamilton= loose construction
  • Jefferson favored farming. Jefferson thought we should focus more on crops than factories.
  • Jefferson= Strict Construction
  • Hamilton proposed a National bank. It was where the government would give loans. He also wanted a state bank in each sate. Then in 20 years the government can keep or get rid of it
  • A national bank would be good. Where would we put our money?!
  • Hamilton would stretch the rules, like a rubber band. If the constitution doesn't forbid it he would do it.
  • Jefferson wouldn't stretch the rules unless it was necessary, like the rubber band shown. Jefferson felt like if it is not mentioned in the constitution he can't do it.
