The accused had to pick up a red hot iron bar and hold it while they walked three or four paces. Their hand was then bandaged.
if after three days the prisoner would return to court and the bandages would be removed. if the wound was healing the prisoner would be innocent though if they were not they were pronounced guilty
guilty as charged
the accused were thrown into a river or lake
trial by cold water
if you floated you were guilty
if you sunk you were innocent the accused would be helped out of the pool within a few minutes of the trial.
