  • Polo was created by the Persians and then the Muslims learned about it from them. Polo is often called the sport of kings.
  • Polo is played with teams on horseback that use mallets to strike a ball through the opposing teams goal.
  • Polo was created by the Persians and later taught to the Muslims. Polo is common to be played by the upper classes.
  • Muslims thought of horses as a status symbol. This sport then quickly became popular among the wealthy.
  • Polo was so popular that even Abbasid rulers would raise champion Arabian horses to play polo.
  • Overall Muslims adapted the game from Persians and refined polo, today polo is played around the world.
