  • The President acts as the symbolic leader of the United States. The president represents the country, the people, and the executive branch. When other nations think of the leader of the US, they think of the President. 
  • Chief Administrator
  • The President of the United States has 8 powers and roles as the leader of the Executive branch
  • Chief Diplomat
  • The powers of the executive branch are vested in the President. The president is responsible for making sure that the laws of the nation are executed and carried out. The president also has the ability to sign or veto bills.
  • Commander in Chief
  • As the Chief Administrator, the President is the head of the 2.7 million employees of the Executive branch. He is charged with leading cabinet departments such as the Department of Education and independent agencies such as NASA. 
  • Thank you to the leaders of all of the Cabinets for attending this meeting.
  • The president is in charge of American foreign relations. He is charged with creating treaties with other nations that the Senate can ratify. The president also has the power to recognize other governments (Venezuela).

  • The President is the commander of the United States armed forces. The president does not have the power to declare war, but he has direct and immediate control over the militia and the navy.
