Storyboard Text

  • This is Lhamo. He's just a little kid from a small town in Tibet called Takster. However, he's a lot more than that...
  • I see a safe journey...I see a safe return
  • He's also the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama. We'll see how that's a big deal...
  • He's come back!
  • We must first test him..
  • It is good to see you again, Kundun. Can you show me what you left behind?
  • Sure, no prob, Sera Lama!
  • That's our boy!
  • Alright, first things first: meditation; then class. Then I meet with the ministers at a government meeting. A quick lunch, and more meditation...oh, and I get to watch a movie at night! I can't wait until I'm 18! Then I can lead this country!
  • Now the 14th Dalai Lama, Lhamo goes to Lhasa, and gets his education in all things at the Potala Palace.
  • Stop this! He's just a man!
  • But it was not meant to be. China invaded in 1959, and immediately went about destroying Tibet's culture, and Lhamo became a target.
  • Will I ever see Tibet again?
  • I'm sorry the US couldn't officially help you. Let's get you safe!
  • By 1959, things were so bad, Lhamo had to flee to save his life. He several thousand followers fled to India, with the help of the CIA.
  • All people should be happy, healthy, and free. Share our story with everyone you can.
  • The 14th Dalai Lama and the government in exile still sit in India, sharing their story with the world, hoping one day to return.
