  • Edward's Death and Harold's Crowning
  • William's Claim to the Throne
  • William's Decision to Attack England
  • That man has made a sin! We shall invade him!
  • After King Edward dies, his brother in law/advisor Harold Godwinson was crowned. He claimed that since he had a close relationship with Edward, he should be king.
  • England (Harold G.) Battles Vikings (Harald H.)
  • CHARGE!!!!
  • CHARGE!!!!
  • William justified his claim through his blood relationship with King Edward. They were distant cousins and Edward had designated William as his successor to the throne not Harold.
  • Battle of Hastings
  • William thought that Harold had sinned against Edward and God. He then immediately prepared to invade England and destroy Harold.
  • William crowned King of England
  • King Harold hurried North with his army. He surprised Hadrada's army with his speed, and a fierce battle followed. Harald H. fell and what remained of the Vikings fled to their ships.
  • The Normans marched to Hastings while Harold's army watched. The battle went on and the Normans began to feel discouraged. William then inspired his men with an empowering speech and they persevered. King Harold was struck in the eye and William's mission what accomplished.
  • On Christmas day 1066, William was crowned King of England in Westminster Abbey. England would never be the same.
