Amitaf didn't want to be nosy, but she finally decided, after she saw Pan collecting gorgeous sea shells, and taking them to wherever or whoever, that she would get her best friend, Galene, to follow him.
Ceto and Pan were more passionate than ever. Pan was so caught up in his plans to run away with Ceto, that he didn't notice Galene watching him and Ceto.
After Amitaf heard of Pans plan to leave her for Ceto, she was furious, but then after she cried for hours on end, Amitaf came up with a devious plan.
She wouldn't confront Pan about Ceto, instead she would offer to turn Pan into a Merman, (Of course he would say yes, so he could be with the lovely Ceto), but she would hex the spell, if Pan is unloyal to Amitaf, in less than twenty-four hours he would turn into a bird, along with the rest of his family, and Ceto would turn into a fish.
As Pan was gifted with being a Merman, he had no idea of Amitaf’s intentions. The next day, when Pan showed Ceto his tail, she was overjoyed, they made plans to swim away the next day.
When the next morning rolled around Pan opened his eyes, and saw that he was floating on the surface of the ocean. He was supposed to be a Merman! He had wings and a beak! Amitaf appeared behind him, teary eyed, and vengeful. Amitaf explained everything to Pan, while she was crying. Pan apologized, especially after he learned that Ceto was a fish now, he begged to be turned into a Merman or even a human again, but Amitaf declined. So Ceto and Pan lived forever separated.
