  • Hold, Tybalt! Good Mercutio!
  • Scene II
  • O serpent heart hid with a flow'ring face!
  • Tybalt is gone and Romeo banished. Romeo that killed him-he is banished.

  • Scene III
  • There on the ground, with his own tears made drunk.
  • Tybalt challenges Romeo to a duel. Mercutio duels him instead, and while they fight Romeo is trying to get in between them. Tybalt kills Mercutio, and in return Romeo kills Tybalt.
  • Scene IV
  • Sir Paris, I will make a desperate tender Of my child's love.
  • The nurse lets Juliet know that Tybalt is dead and Romeo is banished from Verona. At first Juliet is angry at Romeo for killing her cousin, but then she becomes sad that Romeo is gone.
  • Scene V
  • More light and light, more dark and dark our woes.
  • Romeo runs to Friar Lawrence's cell because he has no other place to go. He threatens to kill himself, but the friar gives him several reasons not to. Juliet's nurse appears and tells them Juliet is also upset. They decide Romeo will stay in Mantua.
  • Paris asks Lord Capulet for Juliet's hand once again. This time, Lord Capulet agrees because he thinks Juliet's sorrow will disappear if she gets married. They decide to hold the wedding in three days.
  • Romeo and Juliet say goodbye before he is forced to go to Mantua. After he leaves, Juliet's mother tells her she must marry Paris. Juliet refuses, and decides to seek for Friar Lawrence's help after the nurse advises her to marry Paris.
